The Boat Here's one of the most gratifying things that can happen to an owner after the purchase of a new boat - it's the wonderful realization that she'll be eminently qualified for her intended career, that she's pleasing to the eye and exhilarating to sail. We designed the 422 with our new boat owners very much in mind. The design parameters called for a two-couple boat-two comfortable private cabins, two heads with showers, a main saloon for elegant dining and apres sail festivities as well as a big comfortable cockpit that didn't look like an afterthought. She also had to be easy to handle under sail and power, and maneuver well in restricted waters. We placed considerable emphasis on the so-called "little things" that make big differences. For example, folding steps for easy access to the cockpit, a seat molded into the aft end of the cabin trunk, generous bulwarks for safer footing, full headroom passageway to the aft cabin, and sail trimming all within easy reach of the helmsman. The Pearson 422 turned out just the way we wanted her to - functional, elegant, and a joy to sail. We think you'll agree. Come sail with us. Bill Shaw
