| The Pearson 40 has accommodations that belie her capability for sheer speed through the water. Below decks, the 40s warm, sculptured interior recalls another era of yachting grandeur.
Dramatically curved bulkheads, oval door, a rich combination of varnished mahogany with laminated ash trim, permanent drop leaf table, deck prisms and midships hatch, stowage galore these are just a few of the many features that blend together to produce an unprecedented standard of luxury. The galley is as imaginative as the most creative on-board chef. Superb utilization of space, deep sinks, three-burner stove with safety bar, plenty of stowage, even a trash hamper. As you might expect, the 40s cockpit is as comfortable as it is functional, with cavernous sail lockers, rounded seats, winch alcoves, and a lazarette for optional propane bottle stowage. The contoured seat mean easier navigation at all heel angles. There are shelves, lockers, and bins for all your navigational equipment. The large wet locker by the companionway is right where you need it. The beauty of her sleek flush deck is enhanced by the unexcelled visibility of that this design affords. By the way, note the lack of any power-robbing stern wave. Not only do her comforts and shallow draft (43 board up) make her a superb cruising yacht, the 40 promises everything you look for when your competitive instincts come alive. I t makes no difference whether youre heading toward the next port on your cruise or nearing the finish line. Bill Shaw designed this 40-footer with one overriding thought in mind to provide a boat that would perform responsively for any owner. If a yacht can be measured by her manners, the Pearson 40 will rate enviably by all who sail her. Her light and responsive helm make sailing a joy in any conditions. As much a joy as she is to sail, the 40 is also a delight when youre not at the helm. Her flush deck offers a broad expanse of space for sunbathing or just plain relaxing. The head is bright and well ventilated, complete with vanity, a roomy shower, laundry hamper a total of seven individual stowage compartments for the crews toilet kits. At the base of the mast is a custom mast collar with a halyard organizer and turning blocks for the internal halyard. The teak dorade/storage box forward of the mast has a stainless steel handrail which prevents sheets from fouling. The large and air forward stateroom offers excellent livability with plenty of drawers and lockers. The convenient seat makes changing clothes all the easier.
