| The Pearson 28 is responsive, attractive and beautifully balanced. She's a fast boat that will race and cruise…and excel at both. From winning the production class division at the MORC Internationals to exploring alluring inlets, the 28's tremendous versatility makes her the ideal boat for family cruising or racing.
The 28 is many things to many sailors. Her speed and balance will delight the seasoned skipper. Her stability and ease of handling will endear the 28 to those less experienced. A couple or a family is all it takes to keep the 28 at her maximum potential. Sail her with confidence knowing the 28's greatest strength lies in the fact that she's built by Pearson. "The pencil is really being guided by the family who is going to sail the boat." These words expressed by Bill Shaw best describe the new Pearson 28 and serve to explain the thought that has gone into this design. A co-founder of the MORC (Midget Ocean Racing Club) and a designer of numerous boats under 30 feet, Bill has brought all of his experience together in this remarkable 28-foot racer/cruiser. She is responsive, attractive and beautifully balanced with an absolute wealth of room belowdecks. More important, however, is the fact that the 28 is a logical and efficient extension of our theory that a boat should be designed and built with particular attention paid to how families live afloat. Daysailing, racing, overnight or extended cruising, the 28 does it all. As soon as you step aboard, it's easy to see what efficiency means at Pearson. Wide walkways, a clean foredeck, large cockpit, well-placed winches, and a modern but not extreme hull form make the 28 a cinch to handle in any sea. Virtually all deck areas have molded-in nonskid surfaces, and standard equipment includes bow pulpit, lifelines and teak handrails on the cabin roof. The view from the tiller is clear and unobstructed. The self-bailing cockpit includes sail lockers port and starboard and high cockpit coamings provide a comfortable backrest as well as winch handle stowage. Underneath is a fin keel and an integral shallow horizontal skeg leading to the rudder which is placed well aft for excellent maneuverability and responsiveness. Once you've toured the deck, slide open the companionway hatch. That enormous expanse below isn't an illusion, just the sum of Pearson's yacht-building experience. Comfort afloat is what it's all about. The Pearson 28 provides stowage for all the gear and stores you'd need for almost any voyage. In the aft end of the cabin are galley units with top-loading icebox and stainless steel sink and enough counter space to serve a banquet. Lockers are built-in under the counter units, and a large sliding door food locker is provided outboard to starboard. Further forward are full-length V-berths with shelves outboard, and overhead is a ventilation hatch for added comfort. With the privacy door closed the children can sleep peacefully…while you entertain in the main cabin. If the urge arises, take a turn on the racecourse with your 28. She climbs out to windward and flies off the wind. Always in control and easy on the helm. She's a lot of boat for 28 feet. What we call cruising in comfort in a rig that's easy on your crew and at a price that's easy on your pocketbook…Come Sail With Us. "A Dedication to Quality Makes Our Business Your Pleasure" |
